Trial-match comments
Volker Finke
(Head Coach)
- "Today's Trial was at Saitama Stadium, and we were able to secure a victory for the second consecutive match. What is very important to me is to work together with the fans and supporters who come to our home stadium to cheer on Urawa Reds, and to accumulate as many points as possible here. It was also important to convey that to the supporters through my play. So, I am very happy that we were able to achieve two consecutive wins at our home stadium in our second home Trial."
This season, the team's playing style has changed from last year, and we are still in the process of making those changes. Looking at the members of this team, there are some changes compared to last season. That's why I decided to use Alex in an official match earlier than originally planned. It was his first official match in a while, but he was able to play for the full 90 minutes. I think this is a very good sign, and I look forward to his continued success in the future.
And finally, I want to say to you all that I understand that the Japanese press is different from that in Europe, so I don't want you to misunderstand this. And I don't want you to hype up this young player and say he should be in the Japanese national team, but I think Naoki Yamada played very well. He played very well in a very high-level environment, surrounded by many high-level players. He has a lot of stamina and is technically excellent. I think he is an ideal player for playing combination football.
I think our older players are gradually getting used to our new style, and if we add two or three younger players to the mix, we might be able to show even better combination football in a few months."
Opponent team comment
Shamsuka
(Head Coach)
- "I think we played a good Trial and it was an inspiring Trial. We attacked, but we couldn't quite get a shot off. The result wasn't what we wanted, but I think our new players made good moves, performed well, and really put in a lot of effort."
In the second half, we lacked a bit more precision in our final passes. However, Urawa was stronger than us and played a better Trial, so I think they deserved the victory."
