Trial-match comments

Volker Finke

(Head Coach)

"I think we were lucky in the first five minutes of Trial, and we had a goalkeeper who played very well in the final 10 minutes of Trial. During that time, depending on the time, I think we were able to play very well as well. Our team is in the process of changing our style and developing in a new direction. So, in this situation, it is inevitable that we will make some mistakes. But if we can win in a way like today, I think it will give the players great confidence, and I think that will be important for our future development. So I am very happy about today's win.
And I think today's result was a great success for the players who played in Trial. Because the number of players who can be included in the squad is gradually decreasing on our team. This is not just limited to Tulio and Tatsuya who played for the Japanese national team. Other than that, Edmilson retired today, and Hosogai will join us next week. So, I think we were able to achieve a very good result with the small number of field players at this point.
As you can probably imagine, towards the end of Trial, especially in the last 10 minutes, I would have felt more at ease if we had a center back who was good at aerial battles, like Tulio. That's because Marinos also had a center back who was good at heading up the front and kicked many long balls. So if we had a player who could clear the ball with his head, I think we would have been able to show a more stable defense. And I would have felt more at ease too.
Our team is still in the development stage, and I think that in a few more months, we will be able to score more goals, for example, in the 50th to 80th minutes of today. Of course, considering the flow of Trial today, I think our team's reaction was correct."

Opponent team comment

Hiroyoshi Kimura

(Head Coach)

"I've been talking about this at press conferences, but things have been getting better, little by little. So, although we lost today's game 0-1, I think it was our best performance this year. However, the fact that we haven't won means that there are problems, so I hope to fix that.
I used two players from the last Trial against Jubilo, Sakata (Daisuke) and Yamase Koji, and Tanaka Yusuke in place of Komiyama (Takanobu). I thought that no matter who played there would be a big difference, so I started them and then I just had to decide when to make the substitutions. I think the penalty kick was inevitable. Even if we concede one point, we've always tried to score two, so I thought that with the current performance of the Reds, we could get it back. I think the opposing goalkeeper Yamagishi was quite good.
At halftime, we talked about moving Kim Keun Hwan up with 15 minutes left and going with a four-back or two-back formation. We didn't mean a power play, but we talked about attacking well from the side and trying to get into the penalty area if possible, and trying to push ourselves as much as possible. We were on the offensive side, but I thought it was just the final shot. It would have been fine if we had turned the game around, but the result was 0-1. We're taking a break tomorrow for the first time in a while, and the J-League will resume in a week, so the atmosphere is really good, and if we can just pick up one more win, or rather, get one more win, it will be a sign of improvement. I definitely want to take it in a positive way.
