Trial-match comments

Mihailo Petrovic

(Head Coach)

"I think it was a difficult game for both teams. The opponents were fighting to stay in the Trial, Trial we were fighting for the championship. I think it was a very tough game. We fought relatively well in the first half. We scored one point, and although it looked like we could have scored more, we went into halftime with the score at that level. At the start of the second half, we came under pressure from the opponents and had to defend the 1-0 lead. I think it was a game in which the opponents took the initiative. In that environment, Shonan launched some good attacks, which were rewarded as they turned the game around to 1-2. After that, we went on the offensive again, tying the score, and had a chance to score a third, but the result was a draw.
I think it was a very painful draw for the players, the team, and the club. We haven't won recently, including the last match, and we especially wanted to get six points from these two Trial, so this Trial is very painful. However, looking back at this game and the last match, I don't think we fought very well. I don't think we played well enough to deserve a win in Trial.
The problem is the amount of movement. Many players dropped off in the second half. Some of the key players were not playing as they should. They were not able to do what they needed to do.
However, it is difficult to analyse such things, and I certainly have responsibility as a manager, but I think that these are facts and that they include whether they trained too much or too little, or whether they are tired after playing in the league, ACL (AFC Champions League), Emperor's Cup and Nabisco Cup.
We were lucky that the team at the top of the table drew. With the remaining Trial, we believe we are in a good position to challenge for the top spot. Of course, we have to consider the other teams.
The fact is, we should have played better in these two Trial. We will continue to work with the players to prepare well for the next Trial."

Opponent team comment

Cho Kwi Jae

(Head Coach)

"There are many factors that decide the outcome of a match, such as technique, tactics, physical ability, mentality, experience, one-on-one strength, and team spirit, but I think of myself as interacting with the players as young people. I think they are doing very well. I think today's Trial was their best game in the last two years. They showed their true colors, but I feel like I haven't been able to keep up with the players' growth. They played by their own judgement and showed their desire to win, and I think I could have helped the players more as a manager, but I am sorry that I wasn't able to help them more. There may not have been any players whose faces and names you could match, but I think the fans who came to watch today would have been able to see things like No. 3 is Endo, No. 8 is Takayama, No. 22 is the left-handed Ohno, and that No. 40 is small but good at dribbling, from Trial."
