Isaac: "I want to play Trial as a striker in order to adapt to the team."

On the 23rd, after the Meiji Yasuda J1 League Matchday 31 game against Shimizu S-Pulse, Isaac Kiese Thelin spoke about his reflections on the match and his aspirations for the upcoming Trial.

"As a team, there were many very good elements. We created many chances, but in soccer, sometimes you score, and sometimes you don't. Sometimes you can score even if you kick with your eyes closed, but this time it was the opposite. If we continue to practice diligently, the probability of scoring in crucial moments will increase, and goals will naturally follow. We must continue to practice diligently."

(While the players in the second line were moving fluidly, Isaac was taking up depth in the front line and forcing the opposing defense to drop back, wasn't he?)
"That's my role. There are many high-quality players who understand my style and quality. My role is to give them space and supply them with the ball. To do that, I need to fight hard."

(How accurate are your passes to Isaac, such as the final pass, in creating opportunities for him?)
"As a striker, I always want the ball, and of course, balance is necessary. My teammates were looking for me well. Ogi (Takuya Ogiwara) gave me a good cross, and I thought the ball was going in, but we need to keep that up. We have a lot of solutions. We want to keep creating options, whether it's crosses or short passes."

(Today's performance was excellent, even by this season standards. How do you plan to use this to secure victories in the upcoming matches?)
"Before coming to Japan, I hadn't done much team training. Ideally, I would have liked to prepare with everyone during the preseason, but given the current situation, what I need to do is play well in Trial to adapt to the team. I'm glad I was able to play for 90 minutes today. Personally, I also want to improve my physical condition."

(With Isaac joining the team, the other players will be able to gain various experiences that they can use to their advantage in the future, right?)
"Absolutely. Practice and Trial are different, and Trial experience is extremely important. As I mentioned earlier, we have a lot of high-quality players, so I think our relationships will only get better. That's football for you, and I'm looking forward to it."
