Reflection upon finishing the 2011 season

The 2011 Season for Urawa Reds has now finished as both the top team and the ladies team lost their quarter final matches respectively in the Emperor’s Cup and All Japan Women’s Football Championship. We thank you for fighting with us and supporting for us throughout the year.

Our top team struggled to remain in the J1 League this year. After having changed the leadership and the team strengthening system midway through the season, the team managed to stay in the J1 League. The team also had an incident involving some of the players after a team training session and troubled those concerned outside of the pitch as well. Haraguchi had his remuneration cut and was suspended. He reflected upon his behavior and deeply regrets his action. He expresses his regret and apologies to those concerned and continues his community service activities. As for Okamoto, he has started his rehabilitation process and intends to come back to the team next season. We apologies for the many concerns we have caused during this season.

In the 2012 season, we will put all our efforts in rebuilding the club and teams from a medium to long term stand point by taking what we have reflected on during this season. We will aim to reconstruct and stabilize the top team by welcoming Mr Mihailo Petrovic as the team’s new team manager who is a veteran in directing a team to play the type of soccer utilizing both players’ physical and brain power.

The club will celebrate 20 years of its foundation in 2012. We would like to ask for your continued support for fighting together with us in the stadium again.
