Komori: "The cheers when we scored at home were amazing. I want to score more and more goals."

On the 23rd, after the Meiji Yasuda J1 League Round 21 match Shonan Bellmare [MATCH PARTNER RDC], Hiiro Komori, who scored her first goal since joining the team, reflected on Trial and her goal.

"Although I was able to score a goal, I need to improve the quality of each of my plays, and I think the team itself needs to show a higher quality of Trial."

(Looking back on the scoring scene?)
"Ogi-kun (Takuya Ogiwara) got a great corner kick, so all I had to do was slot it in."

(I heard that Takuya Ogiwara had a short conversation with Komori?)
"Ogi has a really good crossing ability, and I'm good at scoring from crosses, so I communicated a lot with him before Trial and told him I was waiting for him, and I trusted him."

(You got away from your opponent and hit the ball in the corner of the goal area, but is this a play you're good at?)
"It was the first time in my professional career that I scored from a corner kick. But it was similar to how a cross goes in, so I think I put it in well."

(The play that led to the corner kick was a run behind the opponent by Komori, so perhaps he was making good use of the space behind the opponent?)
"That was one of the team's aims, so I had to pass the ball to (Kaneko) Takuro there, but I was able to score a goal myself, so I'm glad."

(What are the changes from the previous section?)
"My strengths are my ability to shoot and my ability to work inside the penalty area, so I went into Trial with the strong determination to shoot. I would really like to shoot more, and I wanted to play a more solid role in creating more opportunities and waiting for the team to advance."

(You scored your first goal in the J1 League, but after two Trial in the league, what do you imagine yourself doing?)
"If I could be greedy, I would like to press further and take more shots. I want the whole team to work together to increase the number of opportunities like that."

(What are the challenges to succeeding in J1?)
"I definitely want to be able to connect the ball more effectively to my teammates in the post, and I've made a lot of mistakes there in the last two Trial. Up until now I've been able to do that, but I'm making mistakes so easily now, so I need to work harder on that."

(You seem to be the type of player who doesn't have many weaknesses, but what do you value in terms of balance?)
"I think that's one of my strengths, so I want to improve my quality in everything I do."

(You had scored so many goals in the J2 league, but you hadn't scored a goal in six months. Did you feel anxious about being away from the goal?)
"For the past six months, I've wanted to Trial more, so now that I've been given this opportunity, I'm relieved to have scored a goal in my second Trial. However, I'm not satisfied with just one goal, so I want to score more goals from now on."

(You must have been disappointed not to be selected in the Club World Cup, but what has changed now?)
"Even during practice for the Club World Cup, I was showing what I could do and preparing to play. But I wasn't able to get used, so even after I came back to Japan, I practiced every day with a strong desire to be used. I think that feeling was conveyed."

(I think he's now able to talk to the other players better, scoring points, and playing more comfortably.)
"I think that if we can get one goal, we can get on a roll, and we were hoping to get that goal as soon as possible, so I'm relieved."

(How did the team's coordination change when the attacking midfielder was replaced by Yusuke Matsuo from Ryoma Watanabe in the middle of the first half?)
"Ryoma (Watanabe) and Yusuke (Matsuo) have different playing styles and characteristics, so I wanted to play in a way that suited each player. When Yusuke came in, we were able to communicate immediately, so I think we were able to create a good relationship and play well in Trial."

(When you face a J1 defender, do you feel any difference between them and a J2 defender?)
"Through these two Trial, I feel like there's a lot more space here than in the J2 league. It's a completely different style of football, and I want to improve my ability to break through those spaces on my own."

(Is it easy for you to do this?)
"It's a little confusing, but I think I'll get used to it quickly. I want to get used to it quickly too."

(The match was held on a weekday, but fighting at Saitama Stadium, what was the atmosphere like?)
"I was really happy to be able to play in front of such amazing cheers, and it really gave me strength. I think it will be even more amazing on the weekend, so I'm looking forward to that as well."

(At the press conference after joining the team, you said, "I'm looking forward to the cheers when I score at home," but how did it feel hearing those cheers on the pitch?)
"It was amazing. It made me want to get more."
