Kaneko: "I want to prepare for the next Trial so that I don't make the same mistakes again."
On the 24th, after the 18th Meiji Yasuda J1 League match against Nagoya Grampus, Takuro Kaneko, who assisted the opening goal, reflected on today's Trial.
"It was good that I was able to assist the ball, but we lost Trial, so there's no joy in that."
(Three players were substituted in the second half, and the game changed dramatically.)
"Until we scored the opening goal, we seemed to have regained our momentum from the start, and we had talked about getting switched on, so I think we were able to do that. I think we were able to hold on until halfway through, but we just couldn't hold on until the end, and that's what it all boils down to."
(What did you organize before you went to the pitch?)
"If the wingers drop too far back, they will be constantly being pushed back, so I made a conscious effort to go forward in a way that would put a little pressure on the stoppers or the defensive midfielders who had dropped to the side. I couldn't get there all the time, but I think I was able to do that to some extent."
(What about the assist?)
"I tried to go vertically, but it seemed like the opposing player was wary of going vertically, so I thought I'd go into the space on the left. They had more players in the middle, so I moved up at that timing, and (Watanabe) Ryoma was in the spot I needed him to be, so I think Ryoma's positioning really was everything."
(This was the first come-from-behind defeat of the season.)
"We were good at scoring first and then holding on like that to win. We want to learn from this failure and prepare ourselves for the next Trial so as not to repeat the same mistakes."
(You've been conceding two Trial in the last few Trial. What's the reason?)
"We have to face tough games away from home, but after we conceded a goal today, we did what we had to do regardless of the atmosphere in the opposing team's stadium, and I think we were able to at least get a draw and go home with one point."
