Watanabe: "I want to be able to score more valuable points"

On the 29th, after the Meiji Yasuda J1 League Round 7 match Cerezo Osaka, Ryoma Watanabe, who scored a goal immediately after his return, reflected on the away game that ended in a draw.

(You were good at taking the space between your opponents' positions, but were you conscious of that?)
"Rather than thinking about the gap, I wanted to receive the ball in the best possible way from the centre-back. I was conscious of receiving the ball from the centre-back, smacking it, and getting in front of Thiago (Santana). When I got that far, there were often two defensive midfielders lined up next to each other, so I was conscious of being one in front of them."

(What about the goal?)
"At first, I was trying to get a negative from (Matsuo) Yusuke, but he went that way, so I ran hoping that (Haraguchi) would crush the other guy."

(Did you feel like you were able to run that distance because your condition improved after reuniting?)
"It was a close call, it was extremely tough. I didn't have much time to practice, but it was good."

(What about scoring a goal in your return match?)
"It's important that we didn't lose, but I don't think a goal that doesn't lead to victory is very meaningful. When I think about how we were able to turn the game around, I wanted it to be a goal that made me think, 'That was an important point,' so if it ended in a 1-1 draw, I'll just be glad we didn't lose away. I want to be able to score more valuable points."

(You said that your training "felt good," but was it the same in a real match?)
"That's true. I didn't really have any sense for Trial."
