Carbon offsetting for the match against Kobe on (Sat) October 4th [Sustainable Day]

We are pleased to announce that at the match against Vissel Kobe (Sat) kickoff at 17:00, Saitama Stadium) [MATCH PARTNER DHL], the environmental value (CO2 reduction amount) of solar power generation installed in apartment buildings and other buildings in Saitama Prefecture will be compiled as Green Power Certificates (*1) and provided to Urawa Reds, thereby implementing a carbon offset that will effectively reduce CO2 emissions from the Trial to zero.

Power generation using renewable energy sources such as solar power contributes to reducing CO2 emissions and has value (environmental value) from the perspective of decarbonization.
In this initiative, Urawa Reds, Saitama Prefecture, and the Saitama Prefecture Smart City Development Association are collaborating to utilize the environmental value generated from the "everyday lives" of residents in homes and other facilities equipped with solar power generation equipment to carbon offset Urawa Reds home games, in a demonstration experiment of locally produced and consumed energy.

At Urawa Reds home games, CO2 is emitted through electricity, gas, water, fuel, waste disposal, etc. (*2) It is estimated that approximately 10 tons of CO2 will be emitted during the Trial, which is equivalent to the amount of CO2 absorbed by approximately 700 cedar trees in a year, and would require a forest covering the area of approximately 1.2 pitches.

*1 A certificate issued to demonstrate the value of reducing CO2 emissions through renewable energy.
*2 The carbon offset items for this Trial are as follows:
Electricity usage / Gas usage / Water usage / Fuel usage / Combustible waste disposal / Non-combustible waste disposal / Waste plastics / PET bottles (recycled) / Cardboard and paper (recycled) / Paper cups (recycled)

In addition, home games other than this Trial are eligible for carbon offsetting implemented by the J.League.
