Miyamoto: "This season has made us realize what we need."

After MEIJI YASUDA J1 100 YEAR VISION LEAGUE the second round of the playoffs Fagiano Okayama [MATCH PARTNER DHL] on March 6, Yuta Miyamoto reflected on how he and his team fared in the J1 Centennial League and summarized the season as a whole.

I think we have made clear what we were able to do and what we couldn't do. In terms of defense, I think the season made us realize what we need to do in terms of high press and high line.

(I know there is a difference between a three-back and a four-back center, but what did you feel after a season of playing with two central defenders?)
I didn't think anything in particular. I think I could have helped Nemoto (Kenta) more, but I don't think anything in particular about playing the center of the back four.

(I think the coach changed in the middle of the season and your approach changed, but the stress on the center backs must have been different, how were you able to grow while accepting it?)
Tatsuya-san (coach Tatsuya Tanaka) put more focus on the attack. That was something new to me since I became a center back, so I absorbed a lot of things.
However, even though Mr. Maciej (former director of Maciej Skorza) said, 'I want you to fully present to everyone what you did at Kyoto Sanga F.C.,' I couldn't do that and Mr. Maciej had to leave the team, and I really thought that I myself had some responsibility for that season."

(You expressed your ability to carry the ball from the final line as an individual and make a difference, but I could sense that kind of growth as well?)
(You expressed your ability to carry the ball from the final line as an individual and made a difference, but I felt that you had grown in that way. Maciej When I was with Tatsuya, I was told not to take too many risks, so I didn't try that much, but in Kyoto I could do it if I wanted to.

(It was an irregular six-month season, but what did you learn for the next season, and what did you improve on as an individual?)
(What did you learn for the next season?) "In terms of what I was able to improve on, this was the first season in which I was in the position of defensive leader, so I really felt that I needed to communicate more with everyone about how to approach them and how to work with them from practice.

In terms of soccer, as I mentioned earlier, there are both things I was able to do and things I was not able to do at Kyoto. I am sure that these aspects will be sorted out again no matter who the new coach is, so I think that each of us must do what we have to do and do it well after they are sorted out.

(As an individual, what do you want to work on for the new season?)
(What do you want to work on as an individual for the new season?) "I think there will be more powerful players like Lucao like today, so I don't think we were losing all the time, but there are many things we need to improve so that we can be more dominant. Because of my position (center back), I don't have many players I can use as references, but I would like to look back at various Trial such as the (English) Premier League, steal what I can, and train where I can.

(When you talk about dealing with a big player like Lucao, do you talk about a physical approach?)
(When you talk about dealing with a big player like Lucao, are you talking about a physical approach? (Are you talking about a physical approach in dealing with a big player like Luchao? I don't think I will lose in terms of speed at all, but if I rely too much on someone else and have to create a numerical advantage in order to win, it will be hard for everyone, so I think I need to be able to win to some extent on my own.

(How do you feel about standing on the pitch with the captain's mark at the end?)
(What are your thoughts on being on the pitch wearing the captain's mark at the end of the season? I believe that no matter who the coach is, I have to speak up and act to change the team, so if I have another opportunity to wear the captain's mark on the pitch next season, I will make good preparations so that we can win the game.
