Isaac: "I want to turn my goals into victories"

On the 7th, after the second match of the J.League YBC Levain Cup Prime Round quarterfinals against Kawasaki, Isaac Kiese Thelin, who scored a goal in his debut match for Urawa Reds, looked back on Trial and spoke about his enthusiasm for the future.

"We were 1-0 down so I came on to the pitch to give the team some energy. I got a great cross in the first play to tie the score and then it was a really tough Trial. Unfortunately, the result didn't come."

(How did you feel going into your debut Trial in Japan?)
"It's great to be making my debut. I stepped onto the pitch and played with a strong desire to do my best today. It's disappointing that we couldn't get the win, but we just have to move on and move on to the next Trial."

How did you feel when you scored the equalizer?
"It would have been great if our goal had led to a victory for the team, but it's disappointing that we didn't achieve that. However, of course, scoring a goal is very satisfying, so we want to carry this momentum forward into the next game. All we have left now is the league, so we'll all focus on that and aim to achieve good results in the league."

(Looking back at the goal scene?)
"During the water break, the coach told me, 'Let's go.' Then, by chance, I received a message from (Kaneko) Takuro while we were warming up. I had heard him say, 'Simply send in crosses,' and it seemed like he was able to achieve that, so I think it was fantastic. Of course, I knew the quality of his crosses from training, and he delivered some very high-quality crosses. I think my relationship with him will continue to improve. I'm looking forward to it."

(It was an away game, what was the atmosphere like among the fans and supporters?)
"There was some really great cheering throughout Trial. It really created a great atmosphere. I think it was fantastic, even though it was an away game.

I'm very disappointed that we couldn't give our fans and supporters a victory, but I want to say thank you to everyone who came all the way from far away. Next time, let's win together."
