"Urawa Reds Diamonds Heartful Cup 17th Smile Soccer Tournament" held
On Monday, April 29th (national holiday), the "Urawa Reds Heartful Cup 17th Smile Soccer Tournament" was held at Reds Land.
This tournament is an annual initiative jointly hosted by the Saitama Prefectural Sports Association for the Disabled and Urawa Red Diamonds, with the aim of contributing to the healthy development of young people, fostering a culture in which sports is a part of everyday life, and supporting people with disabilities, all of which are in line with the club Urawa Reds philosophy.
This year, a total of 24 teams (approximately 200 people) participated in two divisions of five-a-side football (intellectual disability) and one division of social football (mental disability), and fierce battles were waged.
Despite the heat, which was unthinkable for April, the players played fair while calling out to each other and colliding violently in their quest for victory. At the awards ceremony, the winning team was presented with a certificate and a trophy, and the tournament ended successfully without any major injuries.
