Trial-match comments

Mihailo Petrovic

(Head Coach)

"It's unfortunate that it ended in a draw. However, the players fought with all their might until the end. After conceding a goal in the second minute, the players fought calmly and managed to turn the game around and go into the first half with a score of 2-1. However, two minutes into the second half, they were caught up and we conceded a third goal in added time. Looking at the overall result, I think we were the ones who deserved to win. Although it ended in a draw, I think the players did a really good job. Teams that face Urawa Reds Trial every Trial fight with high motivation and strong feelings. Sendai fought with such strong feelings today that they felt like a different team from the Hiroshima match two weeks ago. It is very difficult for us to fight against such strong-willed opponents every Trial. Although we ended in a draw, we want to fight the remaining three Trial without feeling pessimistic."

Opponent team comment

Makoto Teguramori

(Head Coach)

"We talked about challenging Urawa, who are aiming to take the lead, to a tough game. Looking back on today's game, we were mentally shaken by the balance between offense and defense, and I think it was a game in which both teams felt how difficult it is to maintain that balance. We got a goal and took the lead right after the start of the game, so we were focused on defense, but Urawa went on the offensive with their attacks. After they tied the game, we were forced to play on defense, and we got impatient and conceded a goal. In the second half, we changed our defensive system to 4-2-3-1, and tried to go on the offensive more. We tried to take action sooner when we got the ball, and The Reds were leading in the second half, and their defensive awareness was strong. On the other hand, we had more time to hold the ball, and were able to tie the score with the first free kick of the second half. I think we also had more shots in the second half. The third goal we conceded could have been prevented if we had closed in on the opponent before they could cross the ball. If we hadn't conceded this goal, we would have been able to get the three points, but after conceding the goal, the players' desperation to catch up led to us being able to tie the score in the end. It's disappointing that we couldn't win, but we want to show the same kind of ambitious football as we did in the second half today in the remaining Trial and finish with a win."
