Trial-match comments
Maciej Skorza
(Head Coach)
- "I think we started well. We stole the ball from a high press, which led to (Watanabe) Ryoma's goal. (Matheus) Savio also did a good job.
However, I thought that we would be able to control the game, but it turned out differently. Shimizu used a lot of diagonal balls to the wingbacks and pushed forward. They made us run a lot in the first half. However, I think we were able to control the game even while we were being pushed back.
In the first half, we were able to defend despite being pushed back, but in the second half, we tried to press a little differently, putting (Matsuo) Yusuke higher up the field and using him to our advantage when we went on the offensive. But Shimizu played tougher and ran more, and kept pushing us back. We were pushed back a lot, especially in the last five or ten minutes.
Unlike the match against Fagiano Okayama, today we didn't go into a defensive mode to try to keep the momentum going. And we were able to score the second goal. Today's opponent, Shimizu, was in very good form and played very well in the previous match.
We struggled a lot at the end, but thanks to everyone's hard work we were able to win. There are days like this, but at times like these we need to fight hard and take the win.
Today was Trial we had to win at all costs. I'm especially happy that we were able to get three points in a home game.
And the players who joined the starting lineup today, Hiro (Hirokazu Ishihara), (Matsuo) Yusuke, (Watanabe) Ryoma, and everyone else except Hiro, are just returning from injury, but they are showing very good performances. I think their condition is getting better and better, and I think today we could feel how important a player Ryoma Watanabe is to us."
Opponent team comment
Tadahiro Akiba
(Head Coach)
- "First of all, I think it was an exciting and fantastic game in which both Urawa and we gave it our all, which made me realise that this is the fun of the J1 League.
Despite it being a Wednesday night game, many of our supporters came to Saitama Stadium, and we really wanted to go home with some points, but it's disappointing that we weren't able to do so.
In the match against Gamba Osaka, we were not given much opportunity to play football away from home, but the players made good adjustments and, even in the away ground of Urawa, played what we aim to do: be confident on both offense and defense, and play ultra-aggressive, ultra-aggressive and ferocious football, which is our style. I think it was a very entertaining 90 minutes.
However, even if we gave 99% of our strength, if we are just 1% short, we may not be able to go home with any points in the J1 League, especially against a big club like Urawa. We were a little careless, conceding a goal in the first four minutes, and even in the second half, even though it was a deflection, we seemed to lose our focus for a moment.
We had great attacks in both the first and second halves, but we were missing just 1% of the final quality, like taking a shot to finish, scoring a shot, or making the final pass, and that's all it takes to make this close game. We didn't come to J1 to play close games. We want to pursue that 1% again, keep everyone focused on it, aim higher, and become a club, player, and team that can win and keep winning in J1.
"We have a match against Yokohama FC in three days. I want to recover my body and mind as much as possible and play a great game against Yokohama FC."
