Trial-match comments
Per-Mathias Hoegmo
(Head Coach)
- "We faced a strong team with five wins under their belt. When the opponent marks you man-to-man, it's important to move the ball around early on. Make them run and tire them out. We combined connecting passes in the build-up with long balls to target the space behind the defense, and I think that we got into a better form as time went on.
Thiago (Santana) did a great job up front. (Ito) Atsuki was also making runs behind the defense and creating chances. I also think it was great that (Yasui) Kaito was able to score a goal while playing as an inside midfielder. And just like in the recent YBC Levain Cup, (Maeda) Naoki again drew a penalty kick, which resulted in Thiago's goal.
Even after we made it 2-0, I think we had the potential to create chances, but we needed to be a little more composed in the penalty area. We were able to play in a lot of open space.
It was a very physical Trial, but I think we were able to win in the fight for the ball and in the second ball. It was Trial where we could see the players' great attitude."
Opponent team comment
Kenta Hasegawa
(Head Coach)
- "There were some areas where we were able to do what we wanted to do, but in the end we lost, so I think it was a shame that we conceded a goal. In the previous match against Cerezo Osaka, we struggled to create our own time and shape in attack, but today we were able to attack the way we wanted to, such as by attacking from the flanks. If we had ended the game with no goals left it would have been a bit frustrating, but we played an offensive card and managed to score a goal, even though it was from a corner kick, so I think it was a big result for the team.
Of course, we lost the match, but we've been running through April so far, and among the times and Trial we've been able to play, today's Trial wasn't the worst in terms of the game's development. We were playing well, and the goal we conceded was due to our own mistake, so it was a shame. However, this is also a match, so we need to switch gears and prepare well. We'll be playing against a very strong team in May, so we want to fight hard and get three points at home."
