Trial-match comments

Volker Finke

(Head Coach)

"It's very difficult to comment on today's Trial because our team played very well for a very long period of time. If Trial had been like the previous one against Yamagata, I could criticize the team. But with Trial like today's, I don't want to criticize the team right now. Every player on the pitch wanted to win, and I think we could see that. We created many scoring opportunities. We are in the middle of reforming the team, and sometimes we suffer painful defeats like today's. But that doesn't mean we can blame the team now, because every player played very well. You could say that we are completely unlucky in this situation."
In order to gain good fortune, we have to work hard for it, and I believe that if we continue to do our current work diligently, the goddess of fortune will smile upon us again. To reiterate what I said earlier, there was a lot to criticize regarding the performance and content of the match against Yamagata, and I actually did some of that myself. However, I think we were able to see a lot of positive things for the future in today's Trial. We conceded a goal in a very frustrating way, but even so, our center backs played very well for a long period of time. And in today's 4-3-3 formation, I think our players played well in their respective positions for a long time.
Therefore, the result was truly disappointing. Many people from outside the organization often tell me that "in Japan, everyone only looks at the results." However, I believe that the spectators who came to this stadium were able to see just how good the performance of today's Trial was.

Opponent team comment

Kenta Hasegawa

(Head Coach)

"I think we were able to play a truly heartfelt game. In that sense, in the previous match in Kobe, and again today, we had so many supporters cheering us on, but in the previous Trial we weren't able to play in a way that lived up to their expectations. In that sense, I think the biggest point in today's game was how much heart we could put into the game. In that sense, throughout the 90 minutes, of course, the situation was such that if we didn't win, our participation in the Nabisco Cup qualifiers would be over, but I think the players fought well until the very end, and that's what led to Hara's goal at the end. We have one more Trial left, and we want to do our best to win and get a good result, so we will fight with all our might in this last Trial."
