Trial-match comments

Mihailo Petrovic

(Head Coach)

What are your thoughts on today's Trial?
“Obviously it’s very sad after a game where we lost 3-0. I thought both teams played very attacking football and I thought both teams played good football.
Regarding the first goal, I think it showed us just how amazing the individual skills of the other team were. The second and third goals were due to our own mistakes that led to the ball being stolen. We had many chances, and there was also a scene where an opposing player handled the ball in their penalty box and it would not have been surprising if we had received a penalty. The scene where we were called offside was also very close. In the first half, I think the assistant referee didn't call offside in many scenes, but in the second half, he seemed to call offside properly.
It can happen in the world of soccer, but we lost 0-3, and I don't think the content of the game was that different. But in the end, the score difference was too large.
Although we lost, I think we were able to see a lot of our good points Trial."

(What are your thoughts on the result? Also, what is your impression of the three foreign players from Guangzhou? Did the Reds have a hard time dealing with them?)
"The opposing foreign player, player number 11, was a very good player, so I think it would have been very tough if he had created a one-on-one situation. Of course, when we play at home, we need to fight in a way that keeps the number 11 player in check.
However, looking at the entire 90 minutes, I think we, Urawa Reds, played better as a team than our opponents. I think it was a game where the individual abilities of our opponents stood out.
Next time, we just need to contain the foreign players we allowed to play today and win."

(The Reds did not have many foreign players and made substitutions during the game. Was there a reason for this? Also, do you think they would have won without the three foreign players from Guangzhou?)
"I am in my eighth season working in Japan. There are many very talented players in Japan. Of course, if there is a foreign player who is of higher quality than those Japanese players, I would like to sign him myself. However, it takes a huge amount of money to acquire a player of higher quality than the Japanese players. If there is a player like Guangzhou's No. 11, I would like to sign him myself. However, we do not have the money that Guangzhou has.
"If the opposing team's number 11 hadn't played in today's game, we might have won. But I think our team quality was superior to theirs."

Opponent team comment

Marcello Lippi

(Head Coach)

"I'm very happy that we were able to beat the Reds. We played well tactically and were able to dominate most of Trial. We had some injuries during training and weren't in top form, but I think our determination was strong enough to win this Trial. I think one of the reasons we won was that we were strong not only at the stadium but also during training. This victory will also give us momentum for future Trial this season. We have one more Trial against the Reds, so we want to prepare well. We had some injuries in today's Trial as well, but I'm glad we were able to fight until the end."
