Trial-match comments
Mihailo Petrovic
(Head Coach)
- "The Reds vs. Gamba Trial can be called a national derby, and is usually a tense game where either team could win or lose. The Reds came into today's Trial having recently lost four consecutive official matches against Gamba, and today was another very difficult game. Looking back at the past four Trial against Gamba, there were Trial where it would not have been surprising for us to win. However, during those matches, we had a negative result of losing four games in a Trial. Given the circumstances, it was by no means easy to play against Gamba in such an important game at the end of the season.
Looking back at our past matches against Gamba, we often made mistakes that led to counter attacks, conceding goals and losing. We have been working on these issues with the players in practice and meetings this week, training and preparing. What is very important is for the players to execute the style of play we are aiming for with discipline. I think the Reds' discipline today was at a very high level.
In today's Trial, I think the players played very aggressively, and even in terms of the amount of movement, I think they were superior to the opponent. If you can surpass the opponent in terms of ball control and movement, you can also surpass them in terms of attacking style and ideas. In addition, I think the players did a good job of not panicking when they had the ball, and not allowing the opponent to launch counterattacks from unnecessary ball losses."
Opponent team comment
Kenta Hasegawa
(Head Coach)
- "The result was disappointing. We knew that if we didn't win this Trial, the situation would become tough, and it became a difficult game at the end, but I'd like to thank the players for fighting with all their might and never losing heart until the end. I'd also like to thank the supporters, who, although they had mixed feelings, welcomed the players with applause at the end.
We have three Trial left in the J-League, so we want to play our best until the very end, show a professional attitude, and give as many wins as possible to our supporters."
