Trial-match comments
Mihailo Petrovic
(Head Coach)
- "First of all, I think that the players on both teams who played today's game performed worthy of praise. With the temperature and humidity being very high, and I'm sure the heat from the summer so far had also accumulated, the players played in a way that was full of the appeal of football. It was a fantastic game, and I think it was very interesting for those who watch football.
We started today's game well, but we were unable to capitalize on our Trial chances, and I think we've seen this pattern before, where we conceded goals and lost the game.
Then, we allowed Miki to break through on our left wing several times and conceded a penalty kick. It was a situation where we could have been behind, but they missed the penalty kick, so we were able to stay calm and play the rest of the game. If we had scored the penalty kick, Trial would have turned out differently, and Hiroshima's battles after we took the lead would have been difficult for us.
Both teams created chances, and it was the Reds who converted those chances and scored. In that sense, I think we deserved to win. However, both teams played great games, and I think it would have been Trial that either team could have won, or even ended in a draw.
Opponent team comment
Hajime Moriyasu
(Head Coach)
- "There is not Trial Trial the season, whether at home or away, that we can afford to lose, so it is extremely frustrating and disappointing that we lost. I also feel extremely disappointed that we were unable to deliver a victory to our supporters who came all the way to Saitama Stadium to support us. First of all, I would like to thank all of our supporters for their support in this Trial, and apologize for not being able to deliver a victory to them.
I just told the players in the locker room that it was a nice play and that they did a good job. As I said earlier, there is no good in losing in the professional world, and we are also committed to winning, so it is not good, but I think the players gave it their all in the tactical aspects of the training we did this week to prepare for the Urawa match, as well as the aspects of running and fighting, and fighting until the end as a team. It is disappointing that we lost, but we accept sincerely that we were not strong enough there, and we want to turn this loss into motivation for the next one.
The turning point of the game was that we had chances to take the lead but we couldn't convert a penalty kick, and then we couldn't convert another big chance after that, and we conceded a goal from the opponent's counter attack. As for the second goal, we started off really well in the second half, and we had two big chances, but we couldn't convert them, and we conceded a goal from that flow. This is football, and it's about how you seize the flow. You have to score when you have to, and just because you can't score doesn't mean you're defeated there, but you have to be able to defend, and that's something we have to work on as a team, even though there are not many Trial left in the season.
Although we created chances and failed to score, we were able to make a 3-0 score. Of course, we need to learn from Urawa, who has conceded the fewest goals this year. I think that putting our bodies on the line at the end of a tight spot, being persistent, and not letting the other team score is something we can do. Not letting the other team score in those situations, being persistent in defending until the end, and then connecting it to good attacks and scoring are things we can do. I congratulate Urawa on their victory today, and we will learn from them.
