Trial-match comments
Mihailo Petrovic
(Head Coach)
- "First of all, I would like to say that as the manager, I am certainly dissatisfied with the way our team performed today. I think there were many instances where we were not able to fight as we should have. However, I do not think that Omiya outperformed us.
In the first half, our movements were sluggish and we had a hard time picking up the tempo. One of the reasons for this could be that the sudden rise in temperature made the players' movements sluggish.
It is true that we gave the other team one or two chances in the first half. However, at the end of the first half, Yosuke Kashiwagi scored a great goal after a great switch between offense and defense. I think that helped us to stay calm after that.
In the second half, I think the players controlled the game relatively well. I think we were able to prevent the opponent from having any real chances. Looking at Trial as a whole, I think we played Trial game that we deserved to win. I'm not satisfied with what we showed. However, I take today's win as a positive. Because we won even though we couldn't play the football we were aiming for. That's something to take as a positive. In the past, there were games where we were superior to the opponent in terms of content, but still ended up drawing or losing. In that sense, I want to take today's game as a very positive one.
Derbies between teams from the same city are very tough and intense games, no matter where in the country or where in the city. In derbies, Pos at the time often doesn't matter much. That's why today was a very difficult game for us. The players were able to win such a tough game. I think they deserve praise for that. However, in terms of content, they could have fought better. I would like to praise the players for their determination and hard work to win today, but they need to improve the content of Trial.
Opponent team comment
Hiroki Shibuya
(Head Coach)
- "First of all, I would like to say that it is extremely disappointing that we lost a battle that we could not afford to lose.
Today's attendance was the highest it has ever been, so it was truly an environment worthy of a derby. We had a lot of support from the club and the Reds. In that atmosphere, we fought with the intention of showing the best Trial content in Japan and winning the result, so it's just frustrating.
The fans and supporters were really disappointed and there were various voices. I think that's natural. I, as well as the players and staff, will take it seriously and switch gears for the remaining six games of the 1st stage, and we will definitely win the next game against Sendai. When we play against the Reds away, we will definitely want to improve as a team so that we can win.
In terms of the game content, the players worked really hard. The build-up attacks and the lack of final minutes are my own fault, not the players'. Today's result of 0-1, not being able to attack and score, and only having two shots, are my own fault. I would like to train with the players so that we can improve in those areas a little more, and the players also practice hard on a regular basis, so I felt once again that I will definitely do my best to play a good game.
When I was getting my S-class license, I had the opportunity to train under Coach Misha for a week. He is someone who conveys the image of soccer very well, and I had a lot in common with him. I was happy to be able to play against the Reds led by Coach Misha, and I really wanted to play a good game. Unfortunately, we lost and it was a bittersweet game, so I will prepare well for the next week and do my best to win the Sendai match, the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup, and the league after that.
