Trial-match comments

Nobuyasu Ikeda (Interim)

(Head Coach)

"The first thing I want to say in summary is how regretful we are that we missed out on the three points. The staff, players, and everyone involved with the team went into today's game at the National Stadium with a strong will to get three points and hand the baton over to coach Maciej Skorza, so in the end we ended up with a 2-2 draw and only got one point, which is just disappointing."

Opponent team comment

Go Kuroda

(Head Coach)

"I am very pleased that approximately 49,000 fans and supporters gathered at the National Stadium. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Machida fans and supporters, of course, who have high expectations of our football, as well as the Reds supporters, for creating this warm and wonderful atmosphere.

Today, in the National Stadium, where we hadn't been able to win for a while, Trial faced the second-placed Sanfrecce Hiroshima Hiroshima in a very tense situation, so of course we were fired up, and I think the players' desire to win today's game was apparent. Looking at the official records, we took 17 shots, but none of them went in. There was pressure in not being able to score even in free situations into an empty goal, but I think that our lack of shooting skills and technique was what followed us until the end of the game. On the other hand, I thought that their skills and technique were amazing, as they were able to score from trick plays from free kicks and (Thiago) Santana's headers, even though they had few chances.

I think it was a game in which we should have at worst conceded just two goals and scored just two, winning 2-0 at the very least. If we had taken advantage of our chances a little more, we would have had chances to score three or four goals, so I think it was also Trial that we have a lot to reflect on, and I made sure to tell the players about that.

We were in a good mood to push forward in the second half, and while we cut off the opponent's possession, I think we were able to grab some good chances, and there were also scenes where we were able to take the loose balls, the headers from (Oh) Sehun and (Mitchell) Duke, and the various second balls that came out of that space, and take them to the finish. As a plan, it worked quite well, but I just felt like the three points were far away.

Also, there were some scenes in the game where it looked like they should have been awarded a penalty kick, but when you watch the video again, it's clear that they didn't award a penalty kick, so I'd like to ask a few questions, including why they didn't. There was also a scene where he was clearly pulled down from behind after breaking through, but even after VAR was called, it was ignored. I would like them to clearly show their opinion on what is really correct in such situations, what is a foul and what is not. This is not a complaint, but I would like them to be able to give a clear answer on what is correct when looking at a game and Trial with a fair eye.

Although Erik scored the goal at the end, we had a chance to score before that, so we need to focus on that and move forward, otherwise we will continue to play like this from the next Trial onwards, so with nine rounds left, I hope we can play Machida's football again, and play today's football plus the goals, and play our mentality and concept to the end without defaulting, including putting that mentality and thinking into practice. We are entering a very tough final stage, but we will once again pick ourselves up and play our football with a strong will."
