Trial-match comments
Rafal Janas
Coach
- "First of all, I'm happy that we were able to get the win. This month has been a very tough one for us, with a string of losses. This month we lost two Trial in added time, but today Jose (Kante) scored a goal just before the end Trial, giving us the win.
I would like to thank the players for fighting with the desire to win until the very end. In the final home game of the season, the players fought until the very end, trying to show their gratitude to the fans and supporters.
I think we were able to control the game throughout Trial today, and we deserved to win. However, the goal we conceded today came from a somewhat uninteresting situation, when (Alexander) Scholz slipped. But we continued to play after that, believing we could win, so I would like to say "good job" to the players."
Opponent team comment
Tsutomu Takahata
(Head Coach)
- "This was a match that neither team could afford to lose in order to advance through the group stage of the ACL (AFC Champions League). Early on, Urawa, backed by their supporters at Saitama Stadium, put pressure on us and we struggled to perform to our full potential, but once their pressure subsided we had some good periods and were able to keep possession of the ball. However, just as Trial was starting to settle down we conceded a penalty in the first half, which was a bit painful.
Because the opponents were applying pressure from the front, we made some adjustments to our offense during halftime, such as "Let's keep the ball after stealing it" and "Let's move the ball while watching the opponents' positions." The players did exactly as we told them, and I think we were able to show the strengths of our offense in the second half.
We started the second half well, and it was good that we managed to tie the score at a time when we needed to score. However, just like in the first game against Urawa at home, we were very wary of (Jose) Kante's shooting power, but we were defeated in the end, which is disappointing. It was a very difficult game away from home, but we wanted to somehow take home the three points. It was a disappointing result, and I'm very frustrated.
Lastly, the supporters who came all the way from Wuhan really gave us strength. I'm also really grateful to the players who never gave up and gave it their all until the very end."
