Trial-match comments
Maciej Skorza
(Head Coach)
- Even in the pre-Trial meeting, I said, "We celebrated winning the ACL (AFC Champions League) four months ago here at Saitama Stadium. If we want to repeat that, today's Trial will be the first step towards that goal." And I think that Urawa Reds' advancement to the group stage is important not only for Urawa Reds themselves, but also for Japanese football.
Today is also a special day for me. About 10 years ago, I led Saudi Arabia's Al-Ettifaq FC to the group stage, but we were unable to advance. This time, I will definitely advance.
Opponent team comment
Jorge Tarres Paramo
(Head Coach)
- Regarding today's Trial, we didn't start well, and we conceded several goals in the first 10 minutes, which affected how Trial went afterwards. Perhaps we were too respectful of Urawa's quality. However, as Trial progressed, we were able to create chances little by little. If we had been able to convert those chances, we may have been able to get back in Trial. We weren't able to do that in the first half, but we didn't give up at that point.
We changed the way we played a little bit between the first and second halves. In the first half, we were aiming for counterattacks a lot, and I think that approach itself was heading in the right direction. In the second half, we were of course aiming to score. We created a few chances, but we couldn't score there either. In the second half, we lost some stamina. There are areas where we need to improve as a team, such as stamina, and physical strength.
Trial was our second Trial of the season, and it was a great experience playing against last season's ACL (AFC Champions League) champions.
