Trial-match comments
Maciej Skorza
(Head Coach)
- "First of all, we started Trial poorly today. Conceding a goal in the first five minutes of a final means something was wrong with our mental preparation before Trial. After that, we tried to keep the ball better and change the flow of the game, but we got nervous.
We were thinking of ways to counter this by making substitutions at halftime, but we conceded a goal just before the end of the first half. After that, it was a tough task to catch up with the two-goal deficit, but I think (Nishikawa) Shusaku's penalty save was a key point. We changed to a more offensive formation by playing with two strikers, but we only managed to score one goal. We also had some unlucky moments at the end with (Jose) Kante's shot.
It was a day when things just didn't click for us. We conceded goals today, which we don't usually do. I think we are a team that excels at goal kicks. Today's first goal came from a goal kick in our own half.
I would like to congratulate Avispa Fukuoka. Today was a sad and bad day. There was a very sad and bad atmosphere in the locker room, but we need to get back on our feet and move on to the next step.
Opponent team comment
Shigetoshi Hasebe
(Head Coach)
- "It has taken a long time to get to this point, but I am happy that Fukuoka has grown so strong that we were able to win the championship in front of all of you, even though it was not spectacular, and I think we have proven that. I am glad that I believed in what we have been doing, and I would like to thank everyone in Fukuoka, including the staff and players who believed in us and followed us, as well as the fans and supporters. Thank you very much.
Also, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Urawa fans for creating this atmosphere today, where we faced off against Urawa Reds, who were serious about winning. As a side note, I was born in Urawa. I want them to continue to show us what is good about Urawa, or how amazing Urawa is. We only win once every few matches, and we don't really deserve to win, including the number of passes. Today, we were better at shooting in the attacking third and scoring goals, but we weren't winning in other areas. There are only a few Trial left, but we are at the top of the league, and there is the ACL (AFC Champions League), so I would like them to continue to lead Japan. We will also work hard to keep up with them and close the gap even a little.
