- "We expected today to be a closely fought game, especially with a lot of fighting in the middle zone, and we expected it to be a tough Trial. I think we played well defensively overall, with (Alexander) Scholz and Marius (Heubraten) doing particularly well. Today's match also required a lot of defensive work from our midfielders, (Iwao) Ken, (Ito) Atsuki, (Yasui) Trial, and (Koizumi) Kaho.
In today's Trial, I think we were a little lacking in keeping the ball or playing creatively when we were pushing forward in the final third. Also, in playing while avoiding unnecessary risks, I think the fullbacks were not involved in the attack as much. I think it was good that we were able to take care of the opponent in this way against a team with a strong two-man front line who are good at switching, but it's unfortunate that we didn't create many chances in attack.
Then, with Jose Kante unable to play for the full 90 minutes due to medical reasons, we brought on Shinzo (Koroki) and Ekanit Panya (Book) and aimed to play with a high press again. We were able to keep the ball and take more shots than our opponents, but I don't think we played well enough to score a goal.
But overall, they worked really hard, so I can only say they did a good job. I don't think we can say anything bad about them. With Vissel Kobe in Trial draw, the only good thing for us was a win, but we weren't strong enough against a great team like Kashima today."

- "I know the home game Urawa Reds very well, and I know that it's Trial that gets the supporters and everyone involved with the club the most motivated of the year. I wanted to win that Trial more than anything.
Losing the championship is a big deal for this club. We were fighting with a small possibility, but now that possibility has been wiped out, so it's been a very tough week, but the team has been very focused since practice, and that was reflected on the pitch in today's Trial, with us conceding no goals, so I want to give them high praise. From there on, we were unable to break down the opponent as we did in the first match, and although that may have been the case for both of us, it's an issue for us to work on for the next match.
