Trial-match comments
Ricardo Rodriguez
(Head Coach)
- "I think the first half of this Trial went well. We controlled Trial well, and although it wasn't in the flow of the game, we managed to score a goal, and we didn't allow the opponent to create any dangerous opportunities.
In the second half, Sekine (Takahiro) and Akimoto (Takahiro) had some chances and there were times when it would not have been strange if they had scored additional points. While we will make it our future challenge to score those goals, we were able to get there up until that point.
We brought in fresh players in the middle of the game to try to score more goals, but in the end, the opponents had the ball for a long period of time, so we had to endure that. As for the final period of the game, the opponents were a very strong team, and they pressed from the front with high intensity. The situation in the middle of the pitch was also poor, so I think that we were a little tired from connecting in those areas.
But the important thing is that we won this Trial. We achieved our goal. We knew it wasn't going to be an easy Trial, so I think the best thing is that we were able to get the win and move on to the next round."
Opponent team comment
Cho Kwi Jae
(Head Coach)
- "Being a midweek Emperor's Cup match, we had a slight accident last weekend which prevented us from Trial, so it was a little difficult to prepare, but the players were motivated to play at Takebishi Stadium against such a great opponent as Urawa. After conceding Trial due to a slight accident, we played very negatively in the first half and were not able to play as we should have, but we are working through the league and practice to be able to play for the entire 90 minutes in the second half. I think the players also realized that we need to show a little more determination in terms of the expression and the way we play, and that we don't need to rely on the opponent. I think the viewers understood that too. Although we were unable to win today's Trial and advance to the next stage, it was a very enjoyable time playing against players I've played against a lot in J1, players I coached at university, and players who played for Shonan (Bellmare) in my hometown of Kyoto. It may sound strange to say it, but it was a fulfilling time. I would like to present the Kyoto players with ways to catch up with them as we play the remaining league matches. I strongly feel that we need to face the fact that our weaknesses and strengths coexist and make a good team, rather than just learning from this. I hope Urawa will do their best in the upcoming league and Emperor's Cup, and I hope they will make it to the final.
