Trial-match comments

Volker Finke

(Head Coach)

"We were able to score the opening goal ourselves, and after that, the team was freed up and was able to focus on playing. I'm really happy that we were able to win in this way. Since the start of the year, we have created many clear-cut scoring chances in many Trial, and we completely outnumbered our opponents in terms of the number of chances. Despite that, we struggled to score goals. This continued to block the play or the abilities of many of our players.
But on the other hand, if we score the first goal like we did today, the players are freed up and can show their abilities. Whatever the situation, it's important that all the players keep a strong mentality. And even in the locker room, two or three players were telling the other players that they just need to score the chances to score, and that if they do score, there's no need to talk too much about other things. In this way, we need to call out to each other in a constructive way.
We need to have more confidence that we are on the right path, that our abilities and our style of play mean that we can create many chances. And ultimately, we need to convert those chances into goals.
However, what I am really disappointed about is that, with so many injured players, Sergio received a yellow card. It is his fourth yellow card and he will not be able to play in the next match against Kashima. We need to check the video again, and I cannot say anything right now, but I understand that once you take off your uniform, it is a yellow card. However, I wonder how far he took his uniform off, and I think that maybe he did not take it off completely. In the end, he received his fourth yellow card, so I am very disappointed that he will be suspended for the next Trial.
I will explain about Abe first so that I won't have to answer this question later. I think I will be asked why Abe stayed in the locker at halftime. I spoke to Abe directly last night, and we decided that he will play in Trial lineup today. However, one fact is that, judging from his physical condition, he needs to make an effort to recover. His rest period after the World Cup was very short, so his condition has not been good at all recently. What is important in this situation is that he recovers properly. So, we will give him a break over the next week or a few days. He doesn't need to come to Ohara, where our clubhouse is, and what is important is that he refreshes himself mentally. And in today's Trial, he hurt his shoulder in the first half. Because of this situation, we discussed with him and decided to substitute him at halftime.
In this situation, what's important is for him to recover well, mentally as well. Because his rest period after the World Cup was very short, and even though it was already a short break, he accepted all the invitations and made sure to attend various press conferences. So, at this point, I think he needs to refresh himself mentally as well. And over the past few days, I've had various discussions with Abe and have been able to get detailed information about his physical condition. And I've learned a fact. That is, since 2004, Abe has never rested in an official match, never missed Trial because of injury or fatigue. I think this is very rare around the world, and I think it's a testament to how much he has the heart to fight. However, what's important for him at this point is to take a break and distance himself from what's happening on the field.

Opponent team comment

Yasuharu Sorimachi

(Head Coach)

The director who sat here before me talked for a very long time, so I'm going to keep it short. I think he is probably in a very good mood. I am not in a good mood.
I think it is the same for every director, (FC Tokyo) Jofuku-san said, and Akita (Kyoto Sanga F.C.) said the other day, why can't we arrange the schedule together? Kyoto is more difficult. Trial In September and October, we have one Trial a week, which is not hard to understand because summer is the peak season.
Today, I think Urawa managed to hold on in the first half, but in the second half, they played a soccer game that showed their superiority in terms of their own strength. Also, at halftime, Urawa took 7.5 CKs per 1 Trial. So far. So, CK is one of the key points, and we trained on this point yesterday, and also at halftime today, but in the end, we were beaten from that corner. We felt that the corner was our ball, too, and we were caught off guard at that moment.
The director always says that he will do his best for the next Trial, but I really don't know if there will be a next time for me, but I can't just abandon him and run away with my tail between my legs, so I want to keep my tail firmly attached to my body.
