Trial-match comments

Volker Finke

(Head Coach)

"Today's Trial was a very, very disappointing result for the players and especially for the supporters because we were unable to do something important - putting the ball in the goal. I'm not going to go into detail here about why the ball didn't go in.
However, we must not forget that we created countless scoring opportunities. When we missed every single one of our first decisive moments, it created mental anxiety among the players. And we were able to get into the opponent's troublesome areas and the penalty area many times, but we were unable to convert those decisive moments into goals, and as this continued, the players' anxiety grew. I think that's what was happening on the pitch.
When you have a numerical advantage, 11 against 10, many teams make a mistake. They tend to focus on breaking through the center. However, when you are playing against a numerically disadvantaged team, it is important to attack using the sides. Our team was able to put that into practice today. Hirakawa and Sanu participated in attacks from the sides when they had enough power, and Ugajin, who was brought on during the game, also attacked well. So I think we were successful in putting together attacks from the sides.
But I feel very angry about the situation that is making our lives so difficult. Three minutes into Trial, we had a decisive moment, three or five meters from the goal. If we had touched the ball with our foot, it would have gone in. Same with Sanu's shot after that. It was centimeters away from going into the goal. We had other decisive moments, but we missed every single one. In reality, we should have been in the lead, and if we had scored the opening goal at that time, I think we could have said that the result was fair. But because we couldn't score, we went down the path of defeat."

Opponent team comment

Jun Suzuki

(Head Coach)

"It was a very tough Trial, but I think it can be summed up in one word: the players did a great job. We started off at a good pace, scoring a goal, and created a few chances after that, but unfortunately we had a player sent off, so we had to play the rest of the match with one man down. In that situation, we were very thorough in our defense, and our tactical mandate was clear, so we had to defend, and that's how we played. In the second half, we were mostly pushed into our own half, and even when we passed the ball to the front line, we couldn't get any momentum, so it was a tough game, but our two center backs managed to bounce back, even though our defense was broken down on the sides. With the heat, the consecutive games, and the lack of wins, we weren't getting any results, but we want to use today's three points as an opportunity to play a good game next time and continue to accumulate points."
