Trial-match comments
Volker Finke
(Head Coach)
- "First, I would like to talk about something that I was not very happy about. Considering the way Trial played today, I believe that instead of a 2-1 result, we could have won 4-0 or 5-0 together with the supporters in this stadium.
In terms of the positives, we were able to take control of the game and dominate it for long periods of time. We also played some very good football, so in that sense, the positives outweighed the positives in today's Trial.
And in the end, we won the game, but I think you can see that our victory today was a fair result. It is true that we ended up conceding a goal in a very pointless way, but that was also pointless. I think you can see that it was a goal that could have been prevented.
Finally, in terms of the content of the football, I think that many people were able to feel great joy watching the football we are playing today. Before every Trial, I always watch the DVDs of the opponent's last few Trial. I also have a good understanding of how they have played in the J1 League up until now, and to be honest, I am proud that the football we played today and the football we played allowed us to dominate Shonan Bellmare more than ever before in Trial.
We also knew that it would not be easy to play against such a newly promoted opponent. I told the team in advance that our goal was to get 10 points from the first five Trial, but despite the situation of three away Trial and two at home, we have been able to average two Trial. I think this is one proof that we are on the right path.
Of course, we would have liked to have gotten two more points at this point. Those are the two points we lost in the away game against Montedio Yamagata. However, after analyzing the overall situation, I think we may have lacked respect for Yamagata. And today, we were finally able to win against Shonan Bellmare, but the important thing is to get solid results away from home, and if we play a good game, we can turn those results into solid points and come back home. I don't think I need to say anything more than that."
Opponent team comment
Yasuharu Sorimachi
(Head Coach)
- "I'm very grateful to the supporters who cheered us on until the end. I think that never-give-up attitude led to our final goal. We've been training to be able to create more opportunities like the one in the final game, but the wall of J1 is very thick, so I feel that there are many things we need to do more to achieve that reality. We've been using our running ability as our weapon, but I think that our running ability was used not for offense but for defense, that's the kind of game it was. But still, that's to be expected when you consider the quality of the players, their salaries, and other factors. Even so, we need to find a way to play, and it was like the first half of the Champions League Trial between Barcelona and Arsenal, when we were pushing the ball around at 7-3, but I feel that Arsenal were the ones who couldn't catch up (laughs bitterly).
Overall, I said that it was about our running ability, but the first step, the start of our running ability. I said this at halftime, but that wasn't very good. Naturally, Urawa is a team that puts pressure on us on the first pass, second pass, and third pass after stealing the ball, so if we could get through that, a new world would open up, but I think it's undeniable that we were blocked there.
If we look at it positively, we can take this as a point that will lead to the next one, and we will do our best in the home Trial against Jubilo next week."
