Trial-match comments
Volker Finke
(Head Coach)
- "The first and second halves were completely different. We replaced four or five players, and today they had an opportunity to demonstrate that they were key players. Unfortunately, these substitutions led to the way we played in the first half.
At halftime, we didn't analyze the first half too much. The important thing was to start a new Trial for the second half. We brought on Robson Ponte. We had discussed this with him beforehand, and he put in a solid performance as soon as he was sent onto the pitch.
I think the quality of our performance in the second half was much improved compared to the first half. That doesn't mean we want to forget about the performance in the first half. But I think what we showed in the second half was good to a certain extent. Today's Trial was a very important experience for some of our players. Some of the new players today had never been on the pitch as starters this year.
Of course, I wanted to send the strongest team possible onto the pitch, but unfortunately, some substitutions led to a performance that I was very disappointed with. However, in the second half, I think we were able to play more solidly again, and although we must not forget about the first half, I think the second half was a performance that we can be somewhat proud of.
And I want to tell you this as a fact and maybe this will clear up some of the speculation, but I had spoken with Robson Ponte beforehand about using him in the second half. I had confirmed with him that Robbie would be used at the start of the second half, regardless of the score in the first half, and that's exactly what we agreed to. As for some of the players, to be honest, because we have Trial on Saturday, we were thinking of using them only for the first half and then sending different players onto the pitch, but the quality of their performance in the first half was so poor that we couldn't replace them.
So now we will prepare with high level of concentration for our next match against Shonan, and some of the players who were on the pitch today will also be sent onto the pitch in that match.
As for the players who Trial today for the first time this year, I think that at least Takahashi Shunki played well, and if you look at the overall quality of his play over the 90 minutes, I don't think it was that bad.
Opponent team comment
Masaaki Yanagishita
(Head Coach)
- ``Honestly, I'm disappointed that we couldn't get three points. The players are also very disappointed, so while we're feeling frustrated, we'll grow, so we'll do our best for the next league.'' Masu.
As for the game, I think we were able to play the game pretty well with our own rhythm in the first half, scattering the ball to the sides. I think the players were able to play well.
In the second half, when Ponte came on and we got into their rhythm, we continued to defend well, without panicking, and with tenacity, but in the end, we were defeated. Overall, I think we were able to play without panicking even when our opponent got into a rhythm. There's a Gamba game coming up on Saturday, so I'd like to start training again for that."
