Trial-match comments
Volker Finke
(Head Coach)
- "Losing any Trial is a painful experience. I think we played a very good Trial over the course of 60, 70 minutes. In addition, we created many scoring chances, so in that sense, I think we could have scored a goal a little earlier. However, our players had been practicing very hard every day over the eight-day training camp, and today was the final day of the camp. At this point, my players were very tired, which caused a lack of concentration in front of the goal. As a result, we were not able to convert our chances into goals.
It is very unfortunate that Spiranovic made a mistake in that way, even though he Trial today, but I think it is also very unfortunate for him. Because it was his first Trial after joining the new team. However, we must not forget that he played very well in the match against Jubilo three days ago. In the last match against Jubilo, Spiranovic played very well against Maeda, a very good forward, and Lee Keun-ho, a Korean national team player. So, it is very unfortunate that he made a mistake in that way today, but that does not mean that I doubt his ability or ability. I don't think there is any need to make a big deal out of it. However, I think that the fact is that the team as a whole dominated the game for 60 to 70 minutes, and considering that it was the last day of the training camp, I think this was a performance that should be praised.
There are two weeks left until the opening game, but I think that Kashiwagi, Robson Ponte, and Sanu will be able to join the team practice this week. By having these players join the team, new options will be created, and we will make good use of this strength and try not to play like what happened in the last 20 to 30 minutes of today's Trial.
Opponent team comment
Naohiko Minobe
(Head Coach)
- "I'm honestly happy that we were able to win against Urawa in this preseason match two weeks ago, a team that is aiming for the J1 title and the ACL (AFC Champions League).
In terms of content, we were able to predict before the game that Urawa would attack and we would defend, and since we struggled to keep possession of the ball and attack, we did have the option of counterattacking, and we had several counterattacks in the first half, so I think we need to improve the quality of our scoring there.
As for defense, the level of Urawa's players is very high. They are good at individual play and combinations, and it was hard to take the ball away from them, but we were able to defend tenaciously in front of the goal at the end, and we were saved by the opponent's missed shots, so I don't think we should be so upset about the fact that we managed to limit the score to one point.
Then Pts went in nicely, but while we had the ball, I had instructed them to aim for the back of the opponent's defense, and a single pass from Wakako to Tsuda broke that, thanks to Tsuda's excellent movement and the quality of Wakako's kick, I think.
However, in the end, since it was just the preseason, I wasn't too concerned about winning or losing, and one of the themes today was how much we could do, but I don't think we were able to be completely happy about it, and I felt throughout the game that we need to check and correct things and do things with a higher quality. There are two weeks left, but in order to play a good game at the opening game, I would like to correct those things again and go into the opening game.
