Trial-match comments
Holger Osieck
(Head Coach)
- "I think all of you here today are witnesses to a dramatic game.
Both teams are at a very high level and have a lot of potential, and I think today's Trial proved this.
I think we got into a good start to the Trial with a great goal from Washington early on. After that, we wanted to control the game, but as I said in the press conference yesterday, it was going to be difficult.
In the second half, the game turned into a shootout, and I think that's what we saw in Trial.
Seongnam scored two goals. At that point, they were in a strong position to advance to the finals. After that, we not only tied the score, but we continued to attack in order to win. The Reds players showed very high morale in that respect. On the other hand, I think it was a very narrow margin as to which team the goddess of victory would smile upon in the end.
Even after the extra time, both teams continued to play fast football and attack. I think this is what made a good impression on everyone in today's game.
I am truly happy about today's victory. I praised the players in the locker room earlier, but now we are guaranteed to advance to the finals.
We have advanced to the finals not as Urawa Reds, but as representatives of Japan. In the finals, we will do our best to live up to the name of the Japanese national team and fight for Japanese football."
Opponent team comment
Kim Habbeom
(Head Coach)
- "First of all, I would like to congratulate Urawa Reds for winning today's Trial.
Now that they've risen to the top, I want them to win the championship. I think our players did a great job even in a very unfavorable situation. I didn't expect the penalty kick, but I think the players fought well until the end."
