Trial-match comments
Holger Osieck
(Head Coach)
- "First of all, the most important thing today was to win this Trial. Looking back, it was a very difficult Trial and we had quite a few problems. But I'm very happy that we won today.
In the first half, we were able to create our own rhythm in Trial and score some goals.
We were leading 2-0 going into the second half and managed to score the third goal. We had two more chances. We had to score. If we had scored, Trial would have been decided at that point, but unfortunately we didn't and Jeff scored instead.
In football, if you don't take advantage of your chances, you're punished. Jeff cut off the passes to the front line, and even in that situation, we still had chances to counter, but we couldn't take advantage of those either.
We had chances, but we couldn't score. When that happened, the morale of the players who were fighting dropped. On the other hand, the opposing team was saved, we can still go. It was like the wind blew twice.
However, the Reds players persevered and persevered, somehow weathering the opponent's strong winds and finding a counter attack. And finally, just before the end of the game, that counter attack paid off."
Opponent team comment
Amal Osim
(Head Coach)
- "I think it was a spectacular Trial. That's the most important thing. There were a lot of supporters and spectators in attendance, so I think the players did their best, and there were a lot of goals scored and a lot of chances, so in that sense I think it was a good Trial.
Of course, a spectacular Trial is made up of two teams. Both teams played well, so it was a spectacular Trial, and I think Jeff was able to show that they can play that kind of football against the leaders, Urawa, in the second half. In that sense, Urawa spent a lot of time on the defensive in the second half.
I think Urawa started Trial very well. It made things tough for us, and it was great that Urawa was so aggressive from the start, and I think they deserved to win. On the other hand, I think Jeff may have shown too much respect for Urawa. If they were to concede one or two goals in that situation, it's only natural that the victory would roll over to the other team.
What's unfortunate for Jeff is that they couldn't score a goal in the final good flow of their attack. We knew that the opponent we faced today only had the stamina to last 60 minutes. We tried to exploit that, but it's unfortunate that we couldn't get the result in the end. It's not that Urawa's players are actually getting older, it's that they were no longer able to run in a situation where they were leading 3-1. However, in Urawa's case, on the other hand, they decided Trial in the first 60 minutes, so of course I think they deserved to win.
