Trial-match comments
Holger Osieck
(Head Coach)
- "After Trial like today, it's very difficult to comment on Trial. The second Trial was especially difficult. We were slow to make decisions after we had the ball, slow to pass in attack, and slow to look for space in the opponent's defense. On the other hand, I think Gamba did what we wanted to do. Gamba played more firmly towards their goal.
First of all, it hurt that we conceded a goal from a corner kick. We give each player a clear role during corner kicks, but that didn't work. In the second half, we were trying to be more aggressive and just go for the goal, but we conceded another goal on the counter. We were just preparing to make a substitution when we conceded a goal, so our plan didn't work out. That said, we gradually got better in the second half and created some chances, but in the end we weren't able to overturn the result. I think you can say that the players slept too long and woke up too late."
Opponent team comment
Akira Nishino
(Head Coach)
- “I think it was a very efficient football, or rather, a game with a high degree of decisiveness, and I think it was the most decisive one. There was a period where we were pushed back from the kick-off, but I feel that we were able to hold on well and not panic even if the score was tied, and we were able to play well by reconciling the end. While creating a zone and working hard on defense, aiming for one counter from there, we outperformed the Reds somewhat in the transition part. I thought it would be easy, so even after the score was tied, I was able to carry on the game without panicking.
