Team Manager Mischa - press conference after the match against Yokohama F. Marinos

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company J. League 2nd Stage 9th Sec match against Yokohama F. Marinos

Saying too much after a match like we had today doesn’t help the team at all. I think Yokohama F. Marinos players ran around more and had a better start. They outperformed our team in terms of their handling of second balls and movement around the ball from the very beginning of the match. Under such a circumstance, our team lost a goal from a set play and lost a second goal after our players failed to compete well against our opponent team. When a team loses two goals as a result of bad performance, it becomes difficult to execute the rest of the match well.

Our players made trivial mistakes particularly during the first half of the match today and the team struggled to carry the ball forward more than ever. Because our opponent team led the match by two goal points, our team started the second half of the match with the aim to score goals by taking more risks.

Up until we lost a third goal, our team created a few chances to score some goals. However, we lost the third goal from a counter attack after we made a mistake and our opponent team stole the ball dangerously. I think that the result of today’s match was more or less decided at that point.

However, it was more frustrating when we lost the matches against Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Nagoya Grampus. It was certainly regrettable to lose today’s match, however, our opponent team outperformed us and played a better game than us today. During the course of a long soccer season, there is a time when a team has a match like this. We must acknowledge our defeat and reflect on and learn from our mistakes. It is important for us to do so and switch our attention to execute our next match well.

Losing three matches after playing 26 matches is not too bad. Even if Sanfrecce Hiroshima wins their match today, we are still on par with them in terms of the total number of winning points over the year. It is not good to be panicky after a defeat like the one we had today. It is important for us to remain calm and analyze our match well in order to prepare ourselves well for our next match.

It is not necessary for me to say too much. As for today’s match, our opponent team won the match after playing better than us. All we will do is to commend our opponent and prepare ourselves well for our next match.
