Team Manager Mischa – press conference after the match against Jeju United FC

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the ACL Round 16 1st leg match against Jeju United FC.

We had a very heated match with fantastic performances from both teams. Though Urawa Reds lost the match, we had such a neck-and-neck performance.

Before we started the match, I discussed with our team that we must be careful with our opponent team’s counter attacks which is their forte. However, we lost the ball in a wrong way and lost a goal as a result of receiving counter attacks during the first half of the match. In addition to this, we had a few dangerous moments which our opponent team had created after we lost the ball during our offensive. Unfortunately, our team had allowed Jeju United FC to exert their strength around the very point we were trying to be careful of.

However, even though we faced counter attack risks, we had also created a few good scoring opportunities during the first half of the match.

As for the second half, we had also created several scoring opportunities by controlling the match without giving our opponent any chance to wage counter attacks. However, we had struggled to nail such scoring opportunities. We lost a second goal from another counter attack during additional time. It was a painful loss for us to lose the second goal.

As we lost the first leg match today, the second leg match will be an even harder match for us. However, I believe we have what it takes to rise above this by winning our home match.
