Team Manager Mischa – pre-match press conference the day before the match against Nagoya Grampus

Comment from Team Manager Mischa the day before the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company J. League first stage 9th Sec match against Nagoya Grampus

Every J. League match is a difficult match to play and tomorrow’s match against Nagoya Grampus is no exception. Nagoya Grampus is a strong team with both organizational and individual capabilities. They have a few players who are speedy and tall on their front line. For this reason, we are not expecting to have an easy match tomorrow.

I trust our players will come to the stadium with high motivations to win tomorrow. All our players had great training this week. However, if we stop the good momentum currently going for us by not excecuting what we must do, things will take a different turn. We cannot achieve a good result tomorrow if we don’t work hard by following what is always required for us such as running hard and observing rules.

I regard our current situation rather dangerous given the reality of soccer. Though our team has been doing well with good momentum going for us with good results, this can also be regarded as a rather dangerous situation. While our players’ performance is worthy of praises, they shouldn’t be carried away by being praised. Soccer is not the type of sport which you can rely on your past glory and survive through based on your past results. You can only survive if you can achieve a positive result for the match you will be playing next. For this reason, we must straighten ourselves and keep a sense of tension and strong determination in order to win against our opponent.

I have told my team members exactly this and I am confident that they got my message right. It is important for each player to fulfil their own role. We can achieve a good result tomorrow if they can do this. But, if not, we will end up with not achieving a positive result.
