Heart-full Soccer in Asia

The aim of Urawa Reds’ “Heart-full Club” is to foster children’s hearts through football. We have been promoting the grass-root international exchanges with Asian children titled “Heart-full Soccer in Asia” since last year.

From 23rd to 29th July, “Heart-full Soccer in Thailand” was held. Today, 21st of August, 5 of Urawa Reds personnel left for Singapore where the Heart-full Soccer event will be held. Singapore will be our 5th country to visit in this year.

This year we held the Heart-full Club event in Thailand for the 4th time. It was held in Bangkok and Chiangmai. In total 60 people, 15 families and Heart-full Club staff, enjoyed playing football in Thailand and interacting with the local children.

On the 24th of July, we had a lesson where we mixed the local and Japanese children in Bangkok. The coaches tried to facilitate the communication by writing their names in Thai and sticking it on their shirts. They also used words in Thai which they had memorized before the event. The Thai children slowly warmed up and the event was a great success. Both the Thai and Japanese children showed wonderful team-work communicating through eye contact and smiles even though they could not understand each other’s languages.

After that, we had another event at a Japanese school in Bangkok where we strengthen relationships. On the 25th, we moved to Chiangmai. Some children participated in the event bare footed but they looked cheerful and enjoyed themselves playing ball. Heart-full Club returned to Japan after playing football with about 430 people in total in the 7 events during the 7 days.

“Heart-full Soccer in Singapore” started on the 21st of August. From 22nd to 24th of August, we will have 4 events to have exchanges with about 250 Singaporean and Japanese children.
